Don Gets It Done For South Jordan
Public Safety Victories
Voted to fund additional police officers every year to help improve the safety of residents.
Voted to increase pay for police officers to better retain current officers and recruit new officers.
Voted to fund the Public Safety Building, Station 64, in Daybreak, providing quicker emergency services to the west side of our city, both police and fire.
Helped North Shore (Daybreak) residents establish a safe walking route—including three Hawk Crosswalk Signals—for children attending Daybreak Elementary, Golden Fields Elementary, Mountain Creek Middle School, and AAI.
Open Space and Park Victories
Led the fight to successfully save Glenmoor Golf Course. No Public money was used, and Glenmoor is privately owned and maintained today.
Ensured that the first phase of Bingham Creek Regional Park was completed and that the City of South Jordan is a 50% owner of the park.
Worked to bring the new Bees Stadium and a new Trax Line stop to the ballpark. No public money was used to build the stadium.
Successfully negotiated the “buffer” park surrounding Sunstone Subdivision.
Secured the funding and construction of Highland Park in Daybreak.
Saved Mulligan’s Golf and Games by ensuring it is profitable on its own and doesn’t require a subsidy from the city.
Opened a new “All Abilities” park in Riverfront Park.
Worked to create two new splash pads for families to enjoy.
Created new recreational opportunities for residents, including 18 new pickleball courts and additional paved trails throughout our community.
Infrastructure Victories
Successfully lobbied the State Legislature, as President of the Western Growth Coalition and member of the Legislative Policy Committee, to secure a historic transportation‑infrastructure investment for southwest Salt Lake County.
Successfully negotiated the “buffer” park surrounding Sunstone Subdivision.
Ensured funding to extend South Jordan Parkway and Lake Avenue beyond Mountain View Corridor.
Negotiated the Trax Alignment so that a future southward extension will not border Early Light Academy on two sides.
Negotiated underpasses on Bangerter Highway to ease traffic at 11400 South, 10400 South, and 9800 South.
Led the relocation of the proposed senior center and senior housing to a more appropriate location to accommodate the seniors’ needs and to address the neighborhood’s concerns.
